Ontario, Oregon Basque Club holds 66th Annual Benefit Dance this Saturday

Basque Club was founded in 1947 and since the beginning has held an
annual dance to raise money for local charities. This is accomplished
in large part by the live lamb auction. In 1998 the dance moved to the Four
Rivers Cultural Center and a dinner was added to the event. In recent years,
proceeds from the dance and dinner have benefitted the senior citizens
center, The Boys and Girls Club of the Western Treasure Valley and the
Malheur and Payette County fairgrounds among others. In addition to the
dinner and auction, the event will include a performance by Beti Alai, the
club's dance group,
Center for Basque Studies Offers Books in PDF Format and New Book on Pelota
The Center for Basque Studies will now be making old books available online in pdf format for free. The first title in this series is Essays in Honor of Jon Bilbao that was printed in 1977 at the Desert Research Institute. This book includes contributions by authors such as: Joseph Castelli, Richard Lane, Frank Araujo, Richard Etulain, Stanley Payne, Robert Trask and William Douglass to name a few. This will now be a regular offering on the Center’s website so stay tuned.
