NABO Mus Finals

As many of you may already know, NABO’s Mus Finals were held on June 8th, hosted by the Oberena Basque club and held at the Centro Basco Restaurant in Chino, CA. Forty three teams participated and at the end of the day Noel Erdozaincy and Erramun Lahargou, from the Marin Sonoma Basque club, took first with James Goyhenetche and Pello Urrutia, representing the Ventura Basque club, coming in second.

NABO Mus Winners 2013

The first place team will represent the US at the International Mus Tournament to be held in Puerto Varas, Chile October 26-November 2, 2013. This is actually the second time that Erdozaincy and Lahargou have participated at the international level. Coincidentally, the first International Mus Txapelketa that they competed in was also held in Chile.

Congratulations to all the winners! We would also like to say thank you to tournament organizers, Pierre Etcharren, Jean Baptiste Bidegaray, and Louise Camou.

We’re also enclosing a photo of participants who either played with, or had a family member present: Izan zirelako, gara, eta girelako izango dira!

Trikifolia - help fund a documentary about Trikitixa

TrikifoliaWe have also received word from Trikifollia regarding a new documentary project. The idea is to retrace the steps of the Trikitixa instrument from Italy to the Basque Country in order to answer questions about its origin, how it is made, and how it got to the Basque Country. Project director is Unai Guerra, who has collaborated on numerous films including Bertsolari by Asier Altuna, and 80 egunean by Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga. In order to raise money and publicize the project, they have launched a crowdfunding campaign. If you would like to contribute to the project, or simply learn more about it, please visit their website.
