Rosemarie Ascona Memorial Mus Tournament
The Southern California Basque Club is hosting its 7th annual Rosemarie Ascona Memorial Mus Tournament on Sunday, January 11th at Brinderson Hall at the Chino Fairgrounds (5410 Edison Ave, Chino CA 91710). Registration begins at 7am with tournament play starting at 8am and lunch being served at noon. Cost of the tournament (Mus & lunch) will be $50.00. Donostia Eguna in New York
The Euzko Etxea of New York will be celebrating "Donostia Eguna" on January 17th with pintxos, dinner and a Danborrada. As seats are limited, please RSVP by January 14th by emailing either Jon Cerezal or Iban Ubarretxena. Cost for the dinner is $35 and will include fish soup, gulas (baby eels), cod in tomato sauce and cake for desert. More information on this celebration is available here.
Children's Story Contest
As part of the 34th Annual Children's Days in Otxarkoaga (Bizkaia) to be held on May 9-10, 2015, the Txirula Kultura Taldea is once again organizing its Children's Story Contest without Borders. The goal of this contest is to promote creative writing through children's literature. The contest is open to people of all ages, and submissions need to be written in Basque or Spanish. Submission length is one page minimum, or four page maximum and must be original, unpublished works. The theme is free however; children stories that relate to values such as peace, tolerance, gender equality, human rights and caring for the environment are especially valued.
