NABO Udaleku 2015

Udaleku 2011
Udaleku 2011 in San Francisco

This Sunday, 116 kids from all over the United States will descend upon the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center to report for Udaleku 2015. This two-week culture camp for children between the ages of 10 and 15, will run from June 21st through July 3rd introducing participants to Euskera, dance, txistu, culture and pilota. The SFBCC is hosting this year's camp with Valerie Arrechea acting as director. Its theme is Iparralde and the program will include dance and culture from the provinces of Lapurdi, Benafarroa and Xiberoa with instructors hailing from both the US and the Basque Country. Camp isn't all work however, and the children will be treated to a special day on Saturday with their local host families, followed by an all-day picnic on Angel Island, sponsored by the San Francisco Basque Club on Sunday. The children will show off what they have learned on July 3rd starting at 4pm. For more information on Udaleku click here. Arguably one of the most important and successful of all NABO initiatives, Udaleku has been going strong since 1974. Haurrak ikas zazue!
