Aita Antton Egiguren Celebrated the 40th Anniversary of His Ordination

We were very happy to learn from our friends at Artzai Ona, that Aita Antton celebrated the 40th anniversary of his ordination on May 4th. Aita has been working tirelessly during the quarantine to keep Basques, and non-Basques alike, connected to their faith providing mass as well as reciting the rosary every day. On behalf of everyone in our Basque communities, and beyond, we would like to congratulate Aita Antton on his anniversary, as well as thank him for all of his efforts on our behalf, now and also in good times. Coronavirus Biru: Begoña Echeverria's Tribute to her Aunt Mari Carmen

Begoña Echeverria, member of the Basque singing trio NOKA, recently put her songwriting talents to another use. Sadly, she lost an aunt, Mari Carmen Echeverria Itzea to the Coronavirus on April 1st in Lekaroz, Navarre which prompted her to write a song about the virus that “can only be fought with solidarity and love.” The song lyrics are by Begoña, with music and vocals by Mattin Lerissa accompanied on the guitar by Mixel Ducau. The song was recently shared on EuskalKultura.eus and can be heard here complete with its translation.
