Christmas Messages from Aita Antton and Lehendakari Urkullu

Artzai OnaThis week we are happy to share Aita Antton’s Christmas letter with our readers.  Aita works tirelessly to connect with our Basque American community wherever they may be, and we are grateful for all he does.  To read his Christmas letter, or to subscribe for future issues, click here. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we would again like to express our gratitude to Aita for continuing to serve our Basque American communities and providing such an important service.  Mila mila esker bihotzez Aita, zure ahalegin guziendako, asko estimatzen zaitugu.

Eusko JaurlaritzaWe are also happy to share Lehendakari Urkullu’s Christmas message with you all.  He stresses that we have come a long way since the pandemic, with many programs resuming and activity in the Euskal Etxeak around the world getting back to normal. He also tells us about the modified law, The Basque Community Abroad Act, that will replace the current act that has been in place since 1994.  These acts have allowed the Basque Government to interact and aid Basque clubs and organizations carry out their important work to ensure the preservation of the Basque culture in the Diaspora.  To read his message in its entirety, click here.

 

Enrollment Open for Spring Euskara Classes

EuskaraNewly appointed Euskara Coordinator, Edurne Arostegui, has also let us know that enrollment for Basque classes for the spring semester is now open. NABO, through the Basque Museum & Cultural Center, is offering a variety of courses next semester for both beginners and more advanced students. In addition to traditional online classes, there are also two conversation courses and a series of topic-driven courses through the Euskal Herria Ezagutzen program, including Basque for Travel, Basque Gastronomy, Basque Festivities, and Basque Sports. For more information on course offerings, schedules, and registration, click here. Classes meet for two hours a week for 12 weeks, January to April. Tuition is $175 or $125 for NABO club members.
