BEO Celebrating 20 Years of Basque Film Series
The Basque Educational Organization is celebrating 20 years of bringing Basque films and filmmakers to the Bay Area. To commemorate the event, there will be a special screening of “Cinco Lobitos,” or “Lullaby,” at 10:30am on Saturday, May 18th at the Landmark’s Opera Plaza Theatre. Dr. Pedro Oiarzabal will help present the film as well as moderate a Q&A afterwards. This film is a drama about a young mother who decides to move back in with her parents in the Basque Country, and was also selected for the 2022 San Sebastian International Film Festival. Plaza Urrutia Fronton Celebration in Grand Junction
Please join the Colorado Euskal Etxea in celebrating Plaza Urrutia fronton! The fronton, Plaza Urrutia, has now received the historic designation as a Colorado State Historic Monument and the city of Grand Junction, in collaboration with the Basque Club will celebrate this historic event on May 18th at the Plaza from 11am-5pm. The day will include exhibition pilota matches, kids’ games, Food Trucks, festive cookies, and Colorado Basque Club Merchandise, with the inauguration ceremony taking place at 2pm. Los Banos Basque Club Picnic
Please join the Los Banos Basque Club this weekend for its annual picnic. The festivities begin on Saturday night with a no-host dinner/dance at the Wool Growers Restaurant with Manuela Etchechury and Orchestra performing live music. Sunday’s events begin at 9:30am with mass, followed by a BBQ lunch. In the afternoon, the San Francisco Klika and Zazpiak Bat Basque Dancers will perform along with the local Los Banos Basque Dancers. San Francisco Basque Club Picnic
The San Francsico Basque Club invites everyone to join them at its annual picnic on Sunday, June 2nd at a new location at Penngrove Park, just five miles north of the old Petaluma venue.
