Gooding Basque Picnc
The Gooding Basque Association will host its 42nd Annual Basque Picnic on Sunday, July 21st at the Gooding Basque Center. Festivities will begin at 11am with mass, followed by lunch served at noon. The cost of the meal is $22 for adults, $20 for senior 62+, and $10 for kids between the ages of 5-12. After lunch, there will be Basque dancing, a weightlifting exhibition, kids’ competitions, and lots more. There will also be an auction for a lamb, among other things. Reno Basque Festival
The Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Club will host its 56th Annual Basque Festival on Saturday, July 20th at a new venue. This year’s event will take place at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center with festivities beginning at 10am with mass celebrated by Aita Antton Egiguren. After mass, there will be weightlifting, woodchopping and dance exhibitions by the local ZBBC Dancers, the Fresno Basque Club Dancers and Txori Baltza. This year’s lunch will include steak, chicken, rice, beans, salad, cheese, bread, and wine. Cost of the meal is $35 for adults, and $20 for children. The popular Txinga Weight Carrying competition will take place in the afternoon and there will also be chorizo sandwiches for sale. Niña Coyote eta Chico Tornado West Coast Tour
Niña Coyote eta Chico Tornado, a desert rock power duo formed by Ursula Strong (Drums) and Koldo Soret (Guitar and vocals) will tour the West Coast in late July and Early August. Formed in Donostia back in 2011, it was not until 2013 when, with the presentation of their first LP “Niña Coyote eta Chico Tornado,” they started playing live. Since then they have performed almost 400 concerts in a practically uninterrupted tour that has taken them to different parts of the planet such as Mexico, Chile, Argentina, United States, Japan, Russia, France, Belgium, Spain and to the most important international festivals. In 2014 they recorded their EP album in San Francisco and named it Lainoland (land of fog) - a tribute to this city that has marked this band so much. They have shared the stage with bands such as Metallica, QOTSA and Depeche Mode. Here are the details of the tour:
