Basques to Compete in Sheep Shearing in New Zealand
The Basque Country Sheep Shearing Association (Euskal Herriko Ardi Moztaileen Elkartea) is excited to announce that for the first time ever, they will have a team representing the Basque Country at the Golden Shears World Championships in New Zealand, March 2-7, 2026. The team is comprised of both sheep shearers and wool handlers from all over the Basque Country. For more information on the team, or the competition itself, visit them on Facebook. Caldwell Basque Dinner, Dance and Auction
Tthe 58th Annual Caldwell Basque Dinner & Dance is returning on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The festivities take place at the Caldwell Event Center, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. Whether you are interested in the world-class food, the dancing, or the spirited auction, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Proceeds benefit people whose needs "fall through the cracks" of regular assistance. Dinner tickets are $45.00 and are pre-sold. You can contribute by bidding on the lamb, or donating auction items. Lamb Stew Drive Thru in Los Banos
The Los Banos Basque Club will once again host a Lamb Stew Drive-Thru on February 2nd at the D.E.S. Hall from 4-6:30pm. The cost of a meal for two is $50 and includes lamb stew, salad, rolls, and cheese. You don’t want to miss out, so purchase your ticket today. Kern County Basque Club Mus Tournament
The Kern County Basque Club has hit the ground running in 2026. They are getting ready to host their NABO Qualifying Mus Tournament on January 24th and are asking participants to please register by January 20th by contacting Kathy Laverty. The tournament will begin with registration at 7:30am and play will begin at 8:30am. Only paid-up club members will be allowed to participate.
