Basque Cultural Center 44th Anniversary Events

Please join the Basque Cultural Center February 14-15th for its 44th Annual Anniversary. This year’s festivities also coincide with the NABO Winter meeting that will take place on Saturday February 14th. The Anniversary weekend is full of activities for all ages including film, pilota, great food and drink, and this year a presentation by Dr. Pedro Oiarzabal regarding the World War II Basque Veteran Memorial. National Basque WWII Veterans Memorial Update

There has been a lot happening with the National Basque World War II Veterans Memorial. To date, more than 2,150 men and women of Basque origin who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during WWII, including the Merchant Marine have been identified, whose contributions had gone largely unrecognized. This physical monument seeks to permanently honor their service and sacrifice while serving as an educational space for future generations. Coinciding with the Basque Cultural Center’s Anniversary, the location and the architectural design of the monument will be unveiled. The project would not have come this far without everyone’s generous donations, and so we are hoping to continue to count on the Basque community to bring it to fruition. Portland Basque Club Meeing

Southern California Basque Club's 80th Anniversary and NABO Convention
