BEO Film Series: Itoiz Udako Sesioak
Please join our friends at the Basque Educational Organization next Friday, March 6th at 7:30pm for another showing from the Basque Film Series Itoiz Udako Sesioak / Itoiz Summer Sessions. This film was prompted after the leader of this iconic band found a series of unpublished tapes prompting him to reflect on the band’s fame and break up. Amerikanuak: Basques in the New World Celebrated 50 Years
On Friday, February 20th, the Wiliam A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies hosted a celebration to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Amerikanuak: Basques in the New World. Despite the snow that crippled Reno during the entire week, the sun shone on Friday and allowed many to attend. The event included small bites, and beverages as well as great music provided by a quartet comprised of current and former UNR students. Pete Ernaut opened the presentation portion of the evening with a great introduction of the book as well as of Bill Douglass himself. This was followed by a great conversation between Dr. Sandy Ott and Bill who spoke about the genesis of the book and his relationship with Jon Bilbao, co-author of this classic publication. Udaleku 2026
It is hard to believe that March 1st is next Sunday! We want to remind everyone with kids between the ages of 10 and 15 who are interested in attending NABO’s Udaleku this summer, hosted by the Chino Basque Club June 21-July 5th, that the intent to participate will open on Sunday March 1st at 6pm PST. This is the first step in enrolling your children for camp. The number of kids able to attend depends on the housing availability in the area. The hope is that at least 100 kids will be accommodated, but with spots limited, be sure to be at the ready on Sunday! If your child is part of the eligible group, you will then receive a full application form, along with an invoice for camp tuition. More information can be found here. Sorte on deneri!
