Basque Government Grant Application Window is Open
The Basque Government, Eusko Jaurlaritza, has opened the application window for 2026 Basque Government Grants for clubs and federations. The grant call was published on July 17th and so the deadline to apply is August 16th. To apply you need to have a BAK, which is a way of identifying the person applying for the grant making sure that the individual is lawfully representing the club/entity indicated. Gaztemundu Ateak Ireki 2026 Comes to a Close
The Gaztemunduri Ateak Ireki Program, aimed at youth between the ages of 18 and 25 concluded on July 19th. This year’s participants from Argentina, Australia, Canada, the United States and Uruguay, spent three weeks learning about and exploring the Basque Country. All participants were housed with families in Busturialdea-Urdaibai, and Goierri. Thanks to the many program sponsors, participants are only responsible for their round-trip airfare, and insurance during their stay abroad. Twenty-one youth participated from the United States this year representing 7 states, and Washington DC, along with two from Canada. One of the many highlights of their experiences included the opportunity to meet Lehendakari Imanol Pradales, on July 15th. Hori Bai Upcoming Performances - Bring Your Dancing Shoes
Have you had the chance to hear Hori Bai yet? If not, then if you are in the Boise area, here’s your chance. Join them at the Hap Hap Lounge this Saturday, July 25th beginning at 8pm. Admission is free, but you must be 21. Hori Bai is a new Basque band that you may have heard last year at Jaialdi. This Saturday is one of three more chances to enjoy them this summer and get some dancing in at the same time. Your next chance will be at San Inazio on Sunday August 2nd, and your last chance will be on August 8th in Mountain Home. For more information, visit them on Facebook or Instagram.
13th Annual Joshua Rose Memerial Golf Tournament
Please join in the fun with a purpose this weekend in Winnemucca, Nevada at the 13th Annual Joshua Rose Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 25th. The tournament is a four-person scramble with two flights, one at 8am and another at 1:30pm. Cost to participate is $300 per team, and proceeds go to support scholarships for local high schoolers. Established in 2014, this tournament has created a scholarship fund totaling $281,375 through last year, awarded to 254 graduating seniors. Besides raising money for a great cause, the event is a “celebration of Joshua, the golf community, and the community of Winnemucca as a whole.” For complete information, click here.
