Artzai Ona Collection for Jordan Valley Fire Relief
As many are already aware, Oregon has been ravaged by wildfires this summer. Our friends at Artzai Ona are collecting donations to help people who have been affected by the Big Grass Fire in Jordan Valley where many have lost not only structures but also livestock. 65th Annual Mountain Home Picnic
Please join our friends at the Euskal Lagunak Basque Club in Mountain, Home Idaho next weekend for their 65th Annual Basque Picnic. The festivities will take place on Saturday, August 8th at the Basque Park and begin at 4pm. There will be a pilota exhibition at 5pm followed by kids’ games, and a performance by the Oinkari Dancers. Adut competitions begin at 8:15pm and the evening will conclude with a public dance to the sounds of Hori Bai! For more information, visit them on Facebook.
Gazteak on the Green
Have you registered for Gazteak on the Green yet? The Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba will kickoff its festival weekend on Friday, August 7th with a golf tournament at the Carson Valley Golf Course. This is a four-person scramble, and cost to participate is $125 per player or $500 per team. Cost of admission includes green fees, and cart, lunch, and prize eligibility. The NABO Euskara Program is looking for teachers!
Are you a conversational Euskara speaker? Has the thought of sharing Euskara with your local community crossed your mind? NABO Euskara is looking to hire the next generation of Euskara teachers. Positions are now open for beginner level 1, 2 and 3 teachers to start teaching this Fall Semester (September - December) and Spring Semester (January/February - April). When applying please consider ability and capacity to teach two consecutive 12-week semesters (Fall + Spring). Teaching positions are paid, and payments are made at the end of each semester after course evaluations have been completed and submitted. Teaching materials are provided by NABO Euskara to help develop your class structure.
Interested in teaching but can't commit to a 12-week semester? If you have a background in or special interest in a Basque culture related topic and would like to teach a 3-session series or workshop in a way that specifically integrates vocabulary, useful phrases and basic conversation we would love for you to apply and get in touch with us as well. Our students are eager to engage with Basque language and culture in any way they can.
Requirements to apply for an instructor position include:
1. Permission to work in the USA
2. Have a B1 Proficiency level in Euskara or near equivalent
3. Teaching experience in any field is recommended but not required
4. Capacity to teach classes synchronously online
5. A desire and passion to teach Euskara in the US and Canada
6. Complete the application, attach your CV/Resume, and submit!

Piconland Screenings in Nevada
The Nevada Humanities is screening the documentary film Piconland in Southern Nevada this week, as part of the Around the Table Series. If you are in Las Vegas, the screening will take place today, Wednesday July 29th at 5:30pm at the West Las Vegas Library, and tomorrow in Boulder City, at the Boulder City Library again at 5:30pm. After the film, local Basque club members will participate in a conversation, along with the film’s writer and director, and others. For more information, click here.
San Inazio 2026
If you are in the Boise area, you don’t want to miss out on the Boise Euzkaldunak’s San Inazio Festivities this weekend! The celebration runs from July 31st to August 2nd and includes tons of fun and activities for all ages! Why San Inazio? Because Saint Ignatius of Loyola is the Patron Saint of the Basques.
