World Mus Championship
The 47th Annual World Mus Championship of Basque Collectivities, International Mus, will be held in Bilbao, December 5th-13th, 2026. The tournament will bring together some 15 teams representing Basque clubs from approximately 13 countries in the Basque diaspora who have already qualified by placing at their local national tournaments. NABO will be represented by Jon Vizcay and Frank Vicondoa, representing the Anaitasuna Basque Club, winners of the 2026 NABO tournament held in June. Most of the International Mus games will take place at the Hotel Conde Duque in Bilbao, however other games will take place during some of the planned visits to other emblematic sites. Several of the games, including the final, will be broadcast live so fans can follow from anywhere in the world. If you would like to attend in person though, that is also an option. Alongside the official competition, there is also a full program of visits, activities and meals across the three territories of Euskadi. Guests will have the chance to explore the Basque Country and spend time with people from Basque communities around the world. Mus players travelling as accompanying guests can also take part in the parallel tournament in Bilbao. The full program costs €1,500 per person, based on two people sharing a room, including accommodation, meals and all program activities. If you are a Mus Groupie and would like to attend, it is imperative that you contact Valerie Arrechea by this Saturday, October 31st. For the full program, click here.

As we all know, the Basque Cultural Center in San Francisco was a very busy place last weekend. Mila esker Philippe Axeritogarai for providing recaps of the events.
On Saturday, October 24th, 2026, the San Francisco Basque Club and the North American Basque Organization hosted a full Bertsolari event, featuring renowned bertsolaris Andoni Egaña & Sebastian Lizaso along with the U.S. based Bertsolaris and with the Basque folk singers - Aire Ahizpak, who brought their grandfather Xalbador’s verses to life and performed a special dinner concert. For more information on N.A.B.O.’s Bertsolaritzari Arnasa Berritu Amerikan program or on the Bertso Eskola, please email arnasberri@gmail.com.
The topics for the Bertsolaris included Xalbador’s visit to California, using driverless taxis, staying at the bar for too long, and dealing with over-packed suitcases. On three occasions, Xalbador’s verses were brought to life by his granddaughters, Aire Ahizpak, when they sang Sortetxeari, Semeari & Nigarra Begian. To see photos and the video, please click here.
